Loomba Foundation

India has 46 million widows, one of the largest in the world. Standing up for them, is a cause espoused for social impact by Tribe4ideas on the International Widows Day, with the Loomba Foundation at Delhi.

Richa Jain Kalra, co- founder of Tribe4ideas hosted this event at New Delhi which was covered by the National broadcaster Doordarshan Kendra. She emphasised that widows need to be looked upon as human being first and then a woman. Widowhood is a personal tragedy that should not rob them off of social dignity and self-esteem.

The Loomba Foundation has touched thousands of lives of the needy widows and helped them uplift their lives. It was the passionate efforts of the Lord Loomba CBE that led to the declaration of June 23 as the International Widows Day in 2011.

Tribe4ideas along with Blitz India Media and Rotary District 3011 have been supporting the cause of empowerment of widows in India. The Indian Railway Catering Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) announced its collaboration for this worthy cause here.
Mr Saxena Sandeepp , co-founder Tribe4ideas played a pivotal role in organizing the event. He also read out the special message from Lord Loomba who shared his vision and thoughts of changing widow’s lives around the world.
The Loomba Foundation shared its efforts of working in the Prime Minister’s constituency at Varanasi. From cities of Lucknow, Amethi, Chandauli to now Jammu and Kashmir, the foundation is now geared to widen its footprint in the hilly state to transform the lives of poor widows.
