Glimpses of the event

Tribe4ideas is pleased to share that its first impact event “World Without Childhood Blindness” received roaring success at the India Habitat Centre on Saturday, June 8. Eminent doctors of India’s premier medical institutions like the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi) , Guru Nanak Eye Centre and many others saw passionate panel discussion on the subject of preventive eyecare and childhood blindness with a special focus on ROP. Also, a productive and insightful discussion was held on the Role of CSR in enabling world Without Childhood Blindness with Corporates like the Tata Capital, Tech Mahindra Foundation, Grant Thornton Bharat LLP and Burlington English .

It is heartening for us to underline that three important MoU’s were signed to take the mission of eliminating preventable blindness from the country., the event saw exchange of MoU’s between Eye Foundation of America, the Goutami Eye Institute, Sama Hospital Delhi, the Lensbus and Rotary district 3011.

The purpose is to establish a collaborative partnership to jointly run the Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) Project in the Delhi NCR region. The event saw the keynote address by @Dr V K Raju, founder of the Eye Foundation of America and the Goutami Eye Institute. He shared his journey of incredible commitment towards eliminating preventable blindness over the last 3 decades.

Grant Thornton Bharat LLP, the impact partner at this event gave a summary of the incredible work done in India at Rajamundhry, Andhra Pradesh along with Eye Foundation of America through their impact assessment report . It was emphasised that blindness and visual impairments in the prematurely born could be tackled by sensitising the neo natal staff at the nurseries and NICU’s on the right course of action.

At Tribe4ideas we believe in doing events that are purpose-led and impactful. World Without Childhood Blindness was an event that espouses the need for collective and sustained action for wiping out preventable blindness.
